Route description

Small towns, rivers and places of remembrance give this journey through Polesye its character. Leaving Gomel, the road heads towards the Dnieper near Rechitsa before turning south to Khoiniki. The town park gates invite a pause and, if time allows, an additional walk to the Avraamov manor house. Farther along, a roadside memorial to liquidation drivers recalls the region’s more recent history. Beyond Kalinkovichi, the journey reaches Ozarichi. Allow a quiet, unhurried stop at the memorial to the civilian prisoners of the camps. The road then changes mood again, continuing through Oktyabrsky towards the Ptich crossings and Glusk. Its northern arc skirts Bobruisk, crosses the Berezina and reaches Klichev, where the local history museum stands close to the passing street. The return through Borki and Rogachev brings another pair of major rivers and an unexpected town landmark: the condensed milk monument beside the dairy factory. Beyond the Drut and Dnieper lie Gorodets, Buda-Koshelevo, Uvarovichi and Staraya Belitsa. Choose this version to connect these places into a substantial journey, allowing time to establish the current permitted road connections before setting out.

Nearby

Inside Khoiniki’s town park, the Avraamov manor house contains the local history museum, with exhibitions on the region and Chernobyl. Reaching it requires an additional walk from the gates. Kalinkovichi’s town museum also needs a separate detour. Central Bobruisk and the Usakino memorial in the Klichev district are outside this version and should be planned as separate additions.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Arrive in Gomel and arrange a separate connection from the station to the Rechitsa road departure area. A direct service to the ends and bicycle carriage have not been confirmed. Arrange a suitable transfer or a checked independent approach in advance. Confirm any options for leaving the journey from intermediate towns before departure.
By car
The starting reference is Fuel Station 86 on the Rechitsa road, and the finish is Fuel Station 87. These are separate sites on different sides of the road corridor; their proximity does not establish a lawful crossing. Arrange pickup and a permitted connection between them. The fuel stations are location references, with no confirmed permission for long-term parking.
Parking
No long-term car park has been confirmed. Arrange parking in Gomel under current conditions and a separate transfer to the start. Do not assume that the parking area beside the Ozarichi memorial is open to private cars.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание

SurfaceAsphalt 79%, Compacted dirt 4%, Improved surface 1%, Unknown 14%.
Риски Current lawful passage of the complete journey by bicycle has not been confirmed. It includes the M10, the M5 near Bobruisk, an M8 connection and other major roads. Check the permitted Dnieper crossing near Rechitsa especially carefully, as roadworks may alter approaches. Where there is no permitted bicycle continuation, revise the plan in advance or omit that section. Near Voytekhovo, establish the actual road alignment and turns without cutting across adjacent land. Kalinkovichi, Borki and the western return towards Gomel have restricted service branches. Do not use these, or the footpath with a bicycle prohibition near Uritskoye, as bypasses of the main road. In the Oktyabrsky reserve, remain on the permitted road and follow current protected-area rules. Border-zone rules apply to the Khoiniki district section: Zagalye and Slabozhanka appear in the official border-zone list. Before travelling, confirm permitted passage through this section with the Gomel Border Group. Belarusian citizens and holders of a Belarusian residence permit need an identity document accepted under the rules; foreigners permanently resident outside Belarus also need a border-service permit. Permission to enter the country does not replace that permit.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 d 7 h
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow several days for a touring journey, with accommodation arranged beforehand. Divide stages around your pace and available daylight, leaving separate time for museum opening hours and Ozarichi. The existence of a sporting brevet does not establish a comfortable touring schedule. Current accommodation and options for ending individual stages need confirmation.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose a dry period without snow or ice, with moderate temperatures and long daylight. Allow for wind on exposed roads and carry more water in hot weather. Check river approaches in spring; in autumn, plan shorter daily stages and an alternative way to finish.
