Route description

Between Khoiniki and Klichev, town streets give way to the valleys of the Ptich and Berezina, with each community offering a different story. From Gomel, the road reaches the Dnieper and continues to Khoiniki. The old park gates stand close to the passing street, with the Avraamov estate grounds beyond. Allow extra time for a walk to the manor house if you would like a closer introduction to local history. Kalinkovichi and Ozarichi follow. Their places of remembrance deserve more than a passing glance. Pause at the memorial to the prisoners of the Ozarichi camps before continuing through Oktyabrsky towards the Ptich. The river appears on the approach to Glusk, then again on the northern continuation. Beyond it, the road skirts Bobruisk and reaches the Berezina. In Klichev, the local history museum stands beside the street used by the journey, making it a natural stop to plan into the day. Beyond Chigirinka and Borki, the road returns to major rivers. Rogachev brings the Drut and Dnieper, preceded by a lighter landmark: the condensed milk monument. The final arc passes the church in Gorodets, Uvarovichi and St Nicholas Church in Staraya Belitsa. Choose this version of the Polesye circuit for the connections between places as much as the towns themselves.

Nearby

The Avraamov manor house containing Khoiniki’s local history museum lies farther inside the park, beyond the gates beside the route. Its exhibitions add context about the region and Chernobyl, but reaching the house requires an additional walk. Kalinkovichi’s museum, the historic centre of Bobruisk and the Usakino memorial also belong to separately planned visits. They are not included stops on this circuit.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Plan to arrive in Gomel, then make a separate connection to the Rechitsa road. The start is outside the station district; a direct service and bicycle carriage to it have not been confirmed. Check bicycle transport arrangements and a suitable transfer beforehand. For a shortened journey, first establish which intermediate town offers a usable way home.
By car
The starting reference is Fuel Station 86 on Gomel’s Rechitsa exit; the finish is Fuel Station 87. They occupy different roadside sites, so agree the direction of approach and pickup point in advance. Their proximity does not establish a permitted crossing between them. Permission to leave a car at either station for several days has not been confirmed.
Parking
Arrange suitable parking in Gomel for the duration of the journey and a connection carrying your bicycle to the start. Confirm storage conditions with the operator. The parking area beside the Ozarichi memorial has access restrictions for ordinary cars; do not depend on it without checking the rules.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceAsphalt 79%, Compacted dirt 4%, Improved surface 1%, Unknown 14%.
Риски This itinerary includes major roads: the M10, M5 near Bobruisk, R35, R131, R31 and an M8 connection. Continuous lawful bicycle passage under the current road layout has not been confirmed. Check the Dnieper crossing near Rechitsa separately, as changes to the road may affect its approaches. Omit unsuitable sections or arrange a verified permitted connection beforehand. Near Voytekhovo, follow the actual road turns carefully. Avoid restricted service branches in Kalinkovichi, near Chigirinka and on the western approach to Gomel. The parallel path near Uritskoye prohibits bicycles and is not an established bypass. Through the Oktyabrsky reserve, keep to the permitted road and follow current local restrictions. Border-zone rules apply to the Khoiniki district section: Zagalye and Slabozhanka appear in the official border-zone list. Before travelling, confirm permitted passage through this section with the Gomel Border Group. Belarusian citizens and holders of a Belarusian residence permit need an identity document accepted under the rules; foreigners permanently resident outside Belarus also need a border-service permit. Permission to enter the country does not replace that permit.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 d 7 h
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow several days and choose overnight stops before departure. Establish daily finishing points first, then add time for Klichev’s museum, a walk in Khoiniki and the stop at Ozarichi. Geographically, this version follows the same Polesye circuit through Khoiniki, Glusk and Rogachev; it does not add a separate new town or attraction at the finish. The original event’s sporting schedule should not be treated as a touring plan.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Dry days without snow or ice work best, with enough daylight for the long stretches between towns. In hot weather, start early and carry more water; shorten the day when strong winds are forecast. Check river approaches after the spring rise in water, and allow extra time to finish before dark in autumn.
