Route description

Bragin, Khoiniki, Svetlogorsk, Rogachev and Chechersk form successive chapters of a substantial journey from Gomel. The road explores different parts of the region: southern Polesye towns, the banks of the Berezina and older settlements along the northern arc. This variant of the Gomel Round Trip returns along Biletskogo and Pushkina streets to Gromyko Square, retaining the same main course through Bragin and Gomel’s museum streets. From Sovetskaya Street, the journey leaves through the northern outskirts, then crosses the Dnieper near Rechitsa and turns towards Bragin. St Nicholas Church stands beside the road here. Khoiniki brings old park gates and a memorial to drivers who helped with the Chernobyl response. Beyond Kalinkovichi come Lipov, Ostashkovichi and Sosnovy Bor; Svetlogorsk’s streets then lead towards the Berezina. Zhlobin adds Orthodox and Catholic churches, while Rogachev offers the condensed milk monument and crossings of the Drut and Dnieper. After Dovsk, the road reaches Korma and the ruined St Nicholas Church. Pause in Chechersk at the town hall and aircraft monument on the square. Svetilovichi and Vetka gradually bring the journey back to Gomel. The city ending deserves time of its own. A memorial plaque to Lev Vygotsky stands along Proletarskaya Street, followed by Merchant Groshikov’s House on Biletskogo Street. Pushkina Street offers several museum subjects: Gomel’s past, military history and criminal investigation. Choose an exhibition beforehand to round off the journey with a rewarding visit.

Difficult sections and safety

SurfaceAsphalt 68%, Improved surface 6%, Gravel 1%, Unknown 24%.
Риски This is a sustained road journey among motor traffic. Check current cycling conditions on the M10, R35, R131 and M5, especially at the Dnieper crossing near Rechitsa and around roadworks. Continuous permitted passage along the entire course has not been confirmed. At Gomel’s northern exit, establish a public connection beside the trolleybus grounds beforehand. Avoid shortcuts through Proletarskaya Street service yards, Zhlobin’s bus loops and restricted branches in Kalinkovichi, Svetlogorsk and Babichi. Follow the permitted road and current rules through the Vydritsa reserve section. View the ruins in Korma from outside. Border-zone rules apply to the Khoiniki district section: Zagalye and Slabozhanka appear in the official border-zone list. Before travelling, confirm permitted passage through this section with the Gomel Border Group. Belarusian citizens and holders of a Belarusian residence permit need an identity document accepted under the rules; foreigners permanently resident outside Belarus also need a border-service permit. Permission to enter the country does not replace that permit.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 d 6 h
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow several days and arrange accommodation before leaving. Treat the southern stretch through Bragin and Khoiniki, the Berezina section and the northern arc as separate stages according to available lodging. Save energy for Gomel on the last day: museum visits need time before your onward journey. Set a touring schedule that suits your preparation rather than adopting the former event’s sporting deadlines.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Look for dry roads, moderate temperatures and sufficient daylight. Strong winds can substantially change the effort on exposed sections. Carry more water in hot weather and shorten daily stages in autumn; after heavy rain, check bridge and roadwork conditions.
