Route description

This substantial journey from Gomel brings together several faces of the region: Polesye towns, river crossings, old churches and the distinctive architecture of Chechersk. After leaving through Krasnoe, the road crosses the Dnieper and turns towards Bragin. Pause by St Nicholas Church, then look for the historic park gateway in Khoiniki. For a closer encounter with local estate history, allow a separate walk to the Avraamov manor house. Beyond Kalinkovichi, the route heads north through Lipov and Sosnovy Bor. Svetlogorsk introduces the Roman Shatilo monument before the road crosses the Berezina and continues towards Zhlobin. Rogachev offers a change of mood: a condensed milk monument stands near the Drut, followed by another encounter with the Dnieper. These small stops give familiar names on road signs a more memorable identity. Through Dovsk and Korma, the journey reaches Chechersk. The aircraft monument and five-towered town hall invite a pause in the centre; the museum inside the hall adds detail to the local story. Returning through Svetilovichi and Vetka, the final Gomel streets reveal the Vronsky and Pikus houses and a former commercial bank. Karandash and his dog Klyaksa by the circus provide a playful closing landmark as rural roads give way to the city again.

The start and finish are in Gomel near Sovetskaya and Novopoleskaya streets. Gomel Department Store Bus Stop and Novopoleskaya Bus Stop are useful references, with a separate urban approach from each. Check suitable services and bicycle carriage rules. Bus access does not mean a bicycle can be carried on every departure.
By car
Choose a lawful meeting point near Gomel Department Store on Sovetskaya Street. Start and finish are close together, allowing a return to a previously arranged parking location. Plan drop-off around local signs and urban traffic.

Риски This is a long road journey with major junctions, goods traffic and repeated town approaches. The M10 at the Dnieper, R35 and M5 section beyond Zhlobin need particular attention. Current lawful bicycle passage through every connection has not been confirmed: establish available crossings and restrictions before departure, especially around roadworks near Rechitsa. Service lanes for trolleybus traffic lie near the northern exit from Gomel; use a permitted public connection. Avoid service bus loops in Zhlobin and do not use Trudovaya Street as a bicycle shortcut in central Gomel. Between Svetlogorsk and Zhlobin, the road enters the Vydritsa reserve area: remain on permitted roads and choose rest stops according to current restrictions. View the Korma ruins from outside. Border-zone rules apply to the Khoiniki district section: Zagalye and Slabozhanka appear in the official border-zone list. Before travelling, confirm permitted passage through this section with the Gomel Border Group. Belarusian citizens and holders of a Belarusian residence permit need an identity document accepted under the rules; foreigners permanently resident outside Belarus also need a border-service permit. Permission to enter the country does not replace that permit.

Divide the journey into several days with accommodation arranged in advance. Consider stages around Khoiniki or Kalinkovichi, Svetlogorsk, Zhlobin, Rogachev and Chechersk, according to your fitness and available lodging. The town hall museum and an additional walk to the Khoiniki manor require time beyond riding. A verified overall touring duration is unavailable.
