Route description

Save some time and energy for the city ending of this substantial journey through the Gomel region. After Bragin, Khoiniki, Svetlogorsk and Chechersk, the road returns through Gomel’s old streets and finishes by Andrei Gromyko Square. Several museums beside the closing section offer a way to continue exploring once the country-road stages are complete. The journey starts on Sovetskaya Street. Beyond the northern outskirts, it turns towards the Dnieper near Rechitsa, then heads south to Bragin. St Nicholas Church introduces a stretch of Polesye towns separated by long roads. Khoiniki’s park gates provide the opportunity for an additional walk to the Avraamov estate. Beyond Kalinkovichi come Lipov, Ostashkovichi and Sosnovy Bor, followed by Svetlogorsk and its Roman Shatilo monument. After the Berezina and Zhlobin, Rogachev brings the condensed milk monument beside the road towards the Drut. The Dnieper, Dovsk and the ruined St Nicholas Church in Korma follow. Chechersk’s town hall and aircraft monument provide another worthwhile pause. The road returns through Svetilovichi and Vetka to Gomel, where Biletskogo Street reveals older buildings. Along Pushkina Street, choose a museum to suit your interests: city history, military history or criminal investigation.

In Gomel, the Rumyantsev-Paskevich palace complex and the Printing and Photography Museum on Kommunarov Street belong to a separately planned walk. Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceAsphalt 68%, Improved surface 6%, Gravel 1%, Unknown 24%.
Риски This long journey requires confidence around motor traffic and permitted road connections selected beforehand. It includes the M10, R35, R131 and M5. Check the current Dnieper crossing near Rechitsa and approaches to roadworks especially carefully. Complete lawful bicycle passage under present conditions has not been confirmed. At Gomel’s northern exit, establish the public connection beside trolleybus service grounds. Avoid Zhlobin’s bus loops and restricted branches in Kalinkovichi, Svetlogorsk and Babichi. On Proletarskaya Street, keep to a permitted public route without shortcuts through service courtyards. In the Vydritsa reserve, stay on the permitted road and follow current rules. View the ruins in Korma from outside. Border-zone rules apply to the Khoiniki district section: Zagalye and Slabozhanka appear in the official border-zone list. Before travelling, confirm permitted passage through this section with the Gomel Border Group. Belarusian citizens and holders of a Belarusian residence permit need an identity document accepted under the rules; foreigners permanently resident outside Belarus also need a border-service permit. Permission to enter the country does not replace that permit.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 d 6 h
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow several days with accommodation confirmed beforehand. Divide stages between the Polesye section, Svetlogorsk and the northern arc through Rogachev and Chechersk according to your pace. Keep time for Gomel on the final day: each museum requires its own visit and a check of opening arrangements. The historical brevet’s sporting limit is not a touring timetable.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry conditions without snow or ice, moderate temperatures and long daylight. Wind strength and direction matter on exposed sections. Summer heat calls for additional water; shorter autumn days call for shorter stages. After heavy rain, check approaches to river crossings.
