Route description

From the upper Isfayram-Say, this journey turns into the Tengizbay valley. The larger river gives way to a side-valley stream, while the Chatindy marks a junction between approaches to the headwaters. The attraction is the gradual movement farther into the mountains, with each bend changing the scale of the gorge and the positions of neighbouring slopes. Treat this version as a distinct trekking stage towards the upper Tengizbay. It allows time to explore the river valley and understand approaches to nearby passes. Arrange the eventual exit with a guide: reaching the upper end does not complete the wider mountain journey.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 1229 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Check path branches, water crossings and upper slope paths. The Chatindy is mapped as intermittent, so plan drinking water independently. Fog and fresh snow make headwater navigation harder.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 8 h 27 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Plan 2 walking days with reserve time for navigation and an agreed overnight stay. A fast group may complete it in one long day in suitable conditions, with approaches and the onward exit additional.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Prefer midsummer or early autumn after local advice on the headwaters. Snow and river conditions matter more than the calendar date. Prolonged rain or early snow may require changing any onward pass plan.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Reliable mountain footwear and poles for stony ground.
Warm clothing, waterproofs and reserve food.
A tent and sleeping bag suitable for your overnight plan, an offline map, first-aid supplies and water treatment.
