Route description

The Isfayram-Say leads into the Alay through a succession of side-valley mouths. This version begins near the Tegermetch outlet, reaches the Surmatash and finishes by the Kaindy. Each tributary adds its own mountain valley to the main river, making the walk a journey through natural junctions. Agree the permitted itinerary with Surmatash Reserve staff before travelling. In suitable conditions, the steady valley ascent gives time to study the larger river and the places where the gorges meet. At the finish, the choice between continuing along the Isfayram-Say and entering the narrower Kaindy becomes especially clear.
