Route description

The Kilpola to Lumivaara journey brings together several faces of Lake Ladoga. Green shores and island passages come first, followed by Kurkiniemi Lighthouse and the small Yesusaret group. A separate visit to Muralakhti allows a pause in the bay also known as Kocherga. The direction then changes towards Kojonsaari, the southern islands and Kukhka, before returning to the skerries near Lumivaara. This is an extended paddling programme with several independent passages and a separate bay visit. Agree their sequence and permitted landings before departure. With equipment return and onward transport arranged near Lumivaara, the ending becomes part of the journey. A lighthouse ascent or chapel visit requires a separate shore excursion; neither follows automatically from passing by in a boat.
