Route description

The extended outing from Lumivaara follows island shores towards Putsaari. Myuslyasaari, Timonsaari and Heposalonsaari appear along the way; near Putsaari the water opens out, and rounding its shoreline reveals the island’s scale. The programme then returns through northern passages near Sorolansaari towards Lumivaara. The alternation between exposed water and close island channels is as memorable as the distant destination. A separate northern branch also runs between the island passages. Agree how its beginning and ending fit the overall journey; it does not provide a complete return to the base. This is a programme for an experienced group able to wait out wind at an authorised shore. The Sergius Skete and island hills require separate permitted landings and walks.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - With caution By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data Long exposed passages require dependable paddling skills and group support. Children need experience of multi-day boat journeys. Agree animals with the rental provider and landing sites; a lead is required ashore.

Nearby

The Sergius Skete, Cross Hill and Snake Hill require separate walks and permitted landings on Putsaari. Kiukkosenlampi is a distinct inland lake beside the northern channels; passing through Ladoga does not mean visiting it.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Long passages beside Putsaari are exposed to wind and waves. Northern channels require careful navigation between the real shores. Begin the additional branch only with an agreed ending. Check park zones and authorised camping places before departure.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 19 h 46 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow several days for the multi-day outing and waiting out unsuitable weather. A confirmed day-by-day schedule for the principal circuit combined with the northern branch is unavailable. Choose stages around authorised campsites rather than a fixed evening arrival at the distant island.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose the open-water season with a settled forecast. Wind matters more for distant Putsaari than sunshine at departure. Cold water and shorter daylight reduce the allowance for delays at either end of the season.
