Route description

This Opasny version follows the road side of Gorely’s caldera through the Sredinnoye area and onwards towards Mutnovsky. The approach across open volcanic plateau is an attraction in itself: the usual road gives way to an established strip beside the drying lake and a remote approach. The finish lies at the vehicle area before the canyon. The canyon and waterfall viewpoint needs a separate approach and confirmation of access today; the edge is outside the confirmed passage. Check the current permitted strip, water and snow, park restrictions and road permission before travelling. This is a one-way approach with a separately arranged return.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - With caution By bike - No data With a stroller - No Mobile signal - Poor The lower journey needs suitable arrangements and equipment; the passport does not establish a cycling version. Supervise children at the stopping area and on any separately agreed approach to the cliff side. Keep dogs leashed. Mobile reception is unconfirmed, so arrange another communication method.

Nearby

Opasny’s viewpoint and canyon need an additional approach from the finishing area. View the waterfall from a safe permitted side; a descent into its bowl is outside this version. Slag Dome and Tarbaganya Hill lie nearby without separate visits. Vakin’s hut, ice caves, Dvugorbaya and the Gorely and Mutnovsky craters belong to other directions and access conditions.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Regular services directly to the caldera start or finishing area are unconfirmed. Arrange separate delivery to the park’s northern side and a return after the road approach. The option for your day must account for permitted transport, construction-area access and current restrictions.
By car
Base the approach on Termalny and the regulated road through Vilyuchinsky Pass. Arrange road permission and park access, checking suitable transport and the permitted established strip. Water conditions determine passage at Sredinnoye; arbitrary vegetation detours are prohibited. Agree the onward meeting and return separately.
Parking
The passport confirms a designated vehicle area beside the Opasny Canyon approach, near the road finish. Fees, capacity and current condition are unconfirmed. The viewpoint needs a separate checked approach from there. Keep vehicles away from the edge and within the established area.

Places
Drying side of Sredinnoye Lake — The lake side of the caldera approach, where the passport describes an established passage. Check water conditions and the permitted strip before travelling; driving into wet or vegetated areas is unconfirmed.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Established strips on the plateau depend on water, snow and ground conditions. The old direct approach cannot establish today’s permitted drive; agree any safe bypass with the park. A dated bulletin identifies collapse hazards around Mutnovsky. For a separate Opasny visit, use the permitted side, avoid unreliable edges and remain behind barriers.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 33 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Complete duration including delivery and the return is unconfirmed. Plan the plateau approach, ending at the vehicle area and an agreed return separately. Reaching the viewpoint and viewing the canyon and waterfall take additional time and require confirmed access. Standard timing for longer ordinary versions does not automatically describe this passage.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
The summer passport gives June–October, while the current list publishes the vehicle direction for May–October. Check snow, water and actual access separately at either end of that period. Late autumn can change plateau conditions. The winter version is closed and has different arrangements; this road approach does not establish winter access.
