Route description

This version starts on the road side north of Esso and first heads towards Vulkashiki’s plateau terrain. Beyond the named rest site, it continues along a long western passage, encounters a specific valley viewpoint and returns towards Esso through Pionerskaya’s upper side. The sequence reverses the usual outing from the village, and a separate road transfer to the start needs advance arrangements. The appeal is the change from open plateau to woodland passage and the final descent into an inhabited valley. This is a demanding remote direction requiring park permission, water reserves and agreed stops; an available hut or included accommodation is not promised.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - With caution By bike - No data With a stroller - No Mobile signal - Patchy The park advises against its main summer programme for children under ten. Older children need preparation for a long passage and supervision on slopes. Keep dogs leashed. Cycling arrangements are unconfirmed. Reception is published on lower sections, without reliable plateau coverage.

Nearby

A separate scoria-cone ascent and the precise highest Vulkashiki point need their own checked approach. Sombra Hill, Skull Rock and a separate hut are outside the confirmed visits of this version. Anaun, Ichinsky and Dygeren-Olengende belong to distant mountain scenery or independent outings. Visit Esso’s Ethnographic Museum, Uksichan and thermal pools separately after finishing; exhibitions and bathing are not included.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Regular services directly to the northern road start are unconfirmed. Arrange delivery from Esso to an agreed drop-off and a meeting after returning to the village. The ordinary park programme allows a taxi between the road side and Esso, but confirm the particular reverse arrangement and availability for your day beforehand.
By car
Base vehicle arrangements on Esso and the northern road side of this direction. Agree the precise drop-off beside the actual start, then complete the mountain section on foot. The return finishes in the village, allowing a separately chosen meeting. Private-car access across the plateau and Pionerskaya side is unconfirmed.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Ask whether you may leave the car in Esso for the trek. Delivery to the separate road start and the village meeting need their own arrangements. Avoid selecting a new vehicle location on the mountain passage.

What to expect

Places
Vulkashiki plateau rest site The named site amid the plateau’s volcanic terrain. The park programme mentions a hut, but access inside and overnight availability need separate confirmation.
Western viewpoint towards Esso The specific viewpoint on the passage’s western side. In clear weather it looks towards the Esso valley side; no separate summit is added to the visit.
Upper side of Pionerskaya Hill The named hill before descending towards Esso. The outlook depends on visibility, while the lower slope needs care after the long plateau passage.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 509 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The open plateau, slope passages and Pionerskaya descent require preparation for wind, fog and wet ground. A long passage without confirmed drinking-water resupply increases the reserve needed. Do not automatically add an ascent of a separate scoria cone beyond the actual passage. Stay attentive on the final descent; fatigue does not make a slope safer.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 8 h 54 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Complete duration including separate delivery and stops is unconfirmed. A day-by-day plan is not established. The park programme allows a possible multi-day division near the Vulkashiki rest site, but the reverse direction’s stages, overnight equipment and hut access need separate agreement. Include the initial road transfer and later descent into Esso in the group’s complete plan.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
The passport gives June–September; the current list publishes the summer walking direction into October. Agree a late passage separately, checking snow, wind, fire restrictions and slopes. Summer reopening after fire restrictions was announced in late July. The winter version is currently closed and does not establish winter access for this walk.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Footwear for mountain and woodland passages, poles, warm windproof and rain layers.
Your own water and food for the entire journey; plateau resupply is unconfirmed.
Agreed overnight equipment if the arrangements involve a night out.
Light, first aid, a map of the road start and village ending, spare power and another communication method.
Park permission, checked rescue registration, prearranged delivery and an Esso meeting.
