Route description

Upper Kharesidon unfolds gradually. From the Komy Art area, the walk reaches Galdoridon’s cascades before climbing farther up the gorge towards Chifandzar and the Nakhashbita meadow area. Pause by the waterfall, then look for old stone walls, pastoral remains and the unusual wetland valley above. Chifandzar retains the history of an earlier lake and glaciation; examine its mosses, sedges and channels from the path without trampling peat. The upper outing is followed by a return towards the mountain bases. Give this day to one gorge and leave a Shtulu crossing for a separate journey.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data Arrange arrival in upper Digoria and allow a full day for an experienced mountain walker. The upper valley is more demanding than the short developed nature trail. Dog rules and reception throughout the outing are unconfirmed.

Nearby

Shtulu Pass and the onward crossing into Kabardino-Balkaria lie beyond this return outing. Tana valley and the Taymazi waterfalls belong to different Digoria walks; avoid adding them after a long Nakhashbita day.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The administration describes independent arrival at Komy Art, including public transport, but a current service to the base and a return departure are separately unconfirmed. Arrange the final road journey beforehand rather than relying on finding transport after a late descent.
By car
Agree arrival in the Komy Art area and the walking entrance with the administration. The official lower nature-trail approach also uses the junction beside Tana Park; choose a drop-off suited to your approach. This plan does not include driving up the walking passage.
Parking
The administration confirms parking at the entrance to the short Galdoridon nature trail. Check that it suits this version’s start and that storing a car until a late return is permitted. The upper valley is not a vehicle-storage location.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 985 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Beyond the developed waterfall approach are a steep slope, overgrown sections and stream crossings. Wet peat and loose ground need careful footing; keep to the existing path. Obtain the required permissions and border permit, confirm the complete upper passage and avoid continuing to a pass without a separate agreed plan.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 8–10 h
With stops | 10–12 h Allow 1 day of walking with an early start for the complete upper-valley outing and return to the Komy Art area. This is an editorial allowance for the selected long version, rather than the time for a short waterfall walk. Continuing over Shtulu is excluded. Confirm upper-path conditions and set a turnaround time.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose snow-free conditions and settled dry weather after checking the upper path. The official Chifandzar description lists May to October, but lingering snow, high water and autumn ice can shorten the practical window for this longer outing.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Grippy mountain footwear, waterproofs and warm layers.
Food and water for the full day; treat stream or wetland water before drinking.
A headlamp, offline map, backup power and the documents for agreed permits.
